I believe that children are tiny people who are worthy of humanity because they haven’t done anything to not be worthy. All of their behaviors are learned and taught and if I want my children to be able to express themselves and solve their problems through logical solutions, I have to be that example and teach them how to. Through my home, we practice effective communication where I talk it out with my children to try to understand what causes them to act out and how I can help them cope. They know it’s ok to make mistakes and we suffer natural consequences for the mistakes we make. We practice positive affirmations every morning that includes letting them know that regardless of those mistakes, they are still worthy of redemption. I preach these same principles to my families and usually when they hire me for postpartum care, they can see me out these principles in action. I teach them subconsciously by allowing them to watch me apply these principles to their children.
